I've seen some donation platforms built around the idea of tree donations. It means that a percentage of the donations destined to a project are automatically redirected to some other projects the first one depends on. For example, an application using electron could redirect some of its income to it, some more to the js libraries and css themes they use, another bit to the text editor they code on, etc.
I think it could be a hard to develop implementation for liberapay, but it could drastically benefit the community. Projects could have a pie chart indicating how they split their benefit. And it could incentive donations to less public projects like libraries, services, developing tools, etc.
I wonder how many projects are willing to redirect a bit of their donations to the platform that supports them.
