Liberland is a small, city-sized country nestled in the pristine nature of the North Balkans, the area known as Gornja Siga. Liberland is the freest country in the world. Liberland nationals come from all across the globe, connected by their love for liberty and their desire to build a city where they can "live and let live". Liberland's government mixes Swiss democracy with the best corporate governance - a State fit for the 21st Century.
Gornja Siga, Liberland's territory, became a no-man's land (Terra Nullius) due to a border dispute between Croatia and Serbia. Since the dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1991, it had been uninhabited and unclaimed. On 13 April 2015, Vít Jedlička and Jana Markovicova proclaimed it as the Free Republic of Liberland. Liberland has set its boundary with ample margin from neighboring countries to ensure that it does not infringe upon the territory of Croatia or Serbia.
