How to connect two kademlia nodes?

Let's assume I have two kademlia nodes, each in a seperate swarm.

I can connect them with one another, in two possible ways:

1. Use swam.dial_addr()
2. Use swarm.behaviour_mut().add_address()

Is one approach preferred over the other? My general observation is that dial_addr doesn't always work.
