But there are quite many commits by @sjaeckel since. Are there also plans for new releases? Handling of the open issues? If yes, that would be great! If no, I ask for making the project status transparent on the main page, e.g. state that this library is still kept in shape for existing projects but not recommended for new ones. Or whatever the intentions are.

There are no more releases since 2018. Many open issues, most of them created since 2018. And Tom's comment at https://groups.google.com/g/sci.crypt/c/Z7lVGM2wo2o/m/UfQpm0cdQRMJ.
