One idea to solve the problem at a global level was to configure, for example, a subdomain gh.lichess.org (or use gh.lichess.dev) in lichess-org/lichess-org.github.io

so all Lichess GitHub repositories used the domain

if the gitpod url is out of our hands and they assign it based on the repo source, creating a lila-gitpod gh account or just hosting it at fitztrev seems easy enough.
