A simple backup and restore feature would be another stand out feature you could add that would be very helpful to many users.

✔️ Solution

I imagine the backup feature working something like this.
You add a button for (Backup) on the active page of a container/stack

If they click (Backup)

1. A dialog box appears asking the user if you want to take a snapshot or stop the container and do a full backup.
2. A second option is given asking the user if you want to save the backup on the container host or download the backup to your local computer.

The backup should contain a compressed file containing the following.

1. The compose.yaml file in the root.
2. Any volumes defined in the yaml file compressed as subfolders.

Add a (Restore) button on the compose page.

1. A dialog box appears asking the user if they want to browse on the container host or upload a backup file.
2. After making their selection the archive is opened and the compose file is copied to the correct location and the volumes are restored.

If root permissions are required then you could prompt for them.

Maybe this is not possible for some reason I am unaware of, but I think it would be a really useful feature.

came here to ask for an easy way to compose down certain stacks for easy backup by a separate service, but integrating this into dockge would be a godsend.

This should be a priority for any product. All the fancy whistle and bells some projects offer are worthless if one cannot backup and restore easily and quickly.
