• discussed science tests around LSB
• will start this in 2024 and discuss with LSB WP.

• starting to work on this

• need to check the data quality with James re. LSST data analysis tools

01/JUL/24

• meeting with James on 27/JUN/24
• but problem running the analysis_tools
• need to repeat the install of the example pipelines

15/JUL/24

• install of the pipelines worked and analysis tools now working
• the tools have highlighted various changes that need to be made to the LSST IR.
• These will be discussed with James M on his return
• Also working on calibration
  • checking this in the new version of the pipeline and comparing with HSC, SXDS and other
  • revealed some issues
    • significant difference between HSC and SDSS for one galaxy so investigating further

• continued with the analysis_tools but there were a lot of errors so will consult with James M
• calibration issue is fixed between NSC and SDSS
• checked the HSC images - PDR2 have higher quality than PDR3 based on sky subtraction - will need to check PDR2 again possibly

21/AUG/24

• checked HSC images and still have the background issues on the PDR3 data. This is an issue withe HSC pipeline rather than for LSST. Fixing these issues is not in scope for LSST:UK

10/OCT/24

• 2 kinds of images
  1. based global sky subtraction
  2. based on local sky subtraction
• discussed at LSST Europe, decided need to run on the local sky subtraction
• tested local sky subtraction and this is appropriate for Near IR further discussions needed with Manda
• Will need to consider doing both types of subtraction but need to be aware of the computational cost of that.
