The extension is sadly broken in Gnome 45, changing the metadata does not work in this case.
"Import declarations may only appear at top level of a module"

There is some info here how to resolve this:

It does work, installation gave me trouble as in "Oops something has gone wrong" message but I logged out and back in and all seems fine.

I'm running under X11 as Wayland is just F'd up, no window size saving/position, inputs in Kicad don't work, mixed window decorations for GTK and QT, screensharing flakey and the list goes on. So far Wayland is shaping up to fracture the uniformity of the Linux desktop and put us behind about 10 years. Yes, security is better but wow there is a lot of work to do.
