SIdeband between devices connected to a Heltec V3 RNode as a Wifi Gateway for a Wifi local private network

I'm new to reticulum. I have a couple of Heltec V3 RNodes. Just discovered that you can put them into Wifi mode by holding down the top button for 5 seconds. In Meshtastic it shuts the node down. Now wondering if I can use the Heltec RNode as a gateway in a wifi network between other devices connected to the same wifi network. Looks like each one gets assigned a local ip address. But I can't see any reachable nodes in sideband nor any Announcement streams. What am I missing here. Any help and clarification would be appreciated.

The Wifi mode is for hosting of firmware and documentation to a local machine, the RNode communication over Lora is not enabled in that mode.
