Answering my own question: it seems that it is a way to hide some icons in the tray, if the "Hidden" toggle button is ON.
This was my original assumption but since it did not work on my install, I thought that it was something else. It actually worked but after disabling and re-enabling the extension (see this issue).
IMHO This tab should be renamed "Hidden Applications" or "Blacklist" with a toggle button for each app named "Active". And it should be active by default after adding an app.
I can add apps in this tab however it does not seem to have any effect, what is its purpose?
