Mac OSX 15.1 kernel panics #161
Comments
Given how Sequoia come out like 2 days ago. 15.1 is still in alpha/beta and this is certainly an issue that is either addressed by Apple or DXVK. But yes, beta versions of macOS can come with bugs, so to those to test those versions, on their normal setup, you may run into potential problems. |
Can you provide more information on your set @HendrikPetertje? I've been playing on the 15.1 betas since they came out with DXMT enabled and haven't come across any panics on my M1 Studio. |
I have been experiencing the kernel panic issue as well on my MBP M1 Max 64GB since I updated to Sequoia. However, weirdly the issue doesn't happen if I play via virtual mac display on my vision pro. |
This has been fixed for me on the latest OS Beta. My game doesn't crash anymore and runs smoothly |
Heya. I don't think anyone here should need to fix anything, but I thought to give a little heads up for those passing by and thinking about jumping the gun and updating to OSX 15.1 (24B5046f)
It's not worth it. If you want to play FFXIV on your mac, then you should probably stick with the 15.0 non-beta releases.
MacOS Sequoia 15.1 currently has an issue with Metal graphics via DXMT which causes the computer to kernel panic and reboot a few seconds or minutes after you boot up the game. The vanilla Final Fantasy for mac or unticking the metal graphics option in settings and clearing the DXVK cache works fine for the moment (though deals with significant performance decrease when compared to XIV for mac).
