Apologies if this has been discussed before or is in the wrong place.
Currently, MATE does not support color management "out of the box". Software like ArgyllCMS can be used to profile a display, but you also need xiccd which is not packaged on some distributions.
For many users like myself MATE is the best combination of a lightweight, stable DE with a traditional user interface. Having out of the box color management support would be very useful for photography and graphics design workflows (where you currently need to use a heaver DE like KDE or Gnome if you don't have access to xiccd).
A mate alternative to Gnome Color Manager would be fantastic, but practically all that would be needed would be for MATE to be able to run DisplayCal, or indeed gnome-color-manager.
