Kicked out of admin whenever store maintenance page is active and is accessed #7

Not sure if anyone else has encountered this problem:

In any modern browser

open the magento admin in a new browser tab
enable store maintenance mode, but allow access from the current computer's IP
from the same computer and browser, open a new browser tab, then attempt to access the storefront
return to the tab where the magento admin was previously opened, and refresh the page
voila - you'll be automatically kicked out of the magento admin and forced to login again

Tested on the latest Firefox and Chrome on a Mac.
