I think there is a potential risk with silently setting a users trusted folders to *

'git config --global --add safe.directory '*' 2> /dev/null;'

I think this could be improved by either:

  • Notifying a user of the fact
  • trusting specific foldername(s) rather than *
  • explicitly asking the user for conformation on first run
