rclone and secretive

Any idea how I might be able to get rclone's SFTP working with secretive?

I have tried a minimal rclone config:

Options:
- type: sftp
- host: xxxxxxxxxx.com
- key_use_agent: true

however this fails with the error message:

Failed to create file system for "xxxxxx:~": NewFs: couldn't connect SSH: ssh: handshake failed: ssh: unable to authenticate, attempted methods [none publickey], no supported methods remain

Increasing the verbosity doesn't glean any more useful information, just a number of retries which fail with the same error. I am not prompted for my fingerprint.

On the server I get:

Connection closed by authenticating user xxxxx 10.0.0.6 port 64937 [preauth]

The rclone configuration is centred around passing paths to private key files, which you obviously cannot do when using secretive, but I thought I'd be able to get around this using key_use_agent: true.
