Note: Don't edit configure.ac manually to bump the version; the release script
will take care of that. Just make your changes and edit the ChangeLog.md file.
Run dev-bin/release.sh.
Prerequisites: See https://github.com/maxmind/libmaxminddb/blob/master/README.dev.md#ppa and https://github.com/maxmind/libmaxminddb/blob/master/README.dev.md#prerequisites-for-releasing . Basically, you need to:
- Have a launchpad.net account
- Be on the MaxMind Launchpad team
- Have a GPG key hooked up to your Launchpad account
- Install the required release packages
- Install
hub - Run
dev-bin/ppa-release.shfrom theubuntu-ppabranch withDEBFULLNAMEandDEBEMAILenvironment variables set.
Now check out the branch ubuntu-ppa.
Note: dev-bin/ppa-release.sh should do the following for you.
- Type
dch -iand add the appropriatedebian/changelogentry. - Move tarball created above to a temp directory and
name it
geoipupdate_1.?.?.orig.tar.gz. - Unpack tarball.
- Copy
debiandirectory from the ubuntu-ppa branch. We do not include it in the tarball or in master so that we don't interfere with the packaging done by Debian. - Update
debian/changelogfor the dist you are releasing to, e.g., precise, trusty, utopic, and prefix the version with the a~followed by the dist name, e.g.,2.1.0-1+maxmind1~trusty. - Run
debuild -S -sa -rfakeroot -k<KEY>. (The key may not be necessary if your .bashrc is appropriately ) - Check the lintian output to make sure everything looks sane.
- Run
dput ppa:maxmind/ppa ../<source.changes files created above>to upload. - Repeat 4-8 for remaining distributions.
This dist is not yet buildable with gbp. You must build from the tarball.
- Go to https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/blob/master/Formula/geoipupdate.rb
- Edit the file to update the url and sha256. You can get the sha256 for the
tarball with the
sha256sumcommand line utility. - Make a commit with the summary
geoipupdate <VERSION> - Submit a PR with the changes you just made.
Please run dev-bin/clang-format-all.sh on any changes you make.
