I am requesting the new feature to the correct repository.
I checked the latest version on GitHub and the README.md documentation to ensure that this functionality does not already exist.
I searched to make sure that this feature has not already been requested.
I have, or I know someone who has, the ability and willingness to test the new feature on a Moodle LMS-based site.
I agree to submit one feature request per issue ticket (do not submit multiple requests in one issue ticket).
I understand that development and support is provided by volunteer(s) and that all final implementation decisions are up TNG Consulting Inc.
Feature Request - The User Story
Dear Michael,
Invitation is a very useful plugin!
As a teacher I would like to be able to send an invitation to a cohort (or user) who then automatically is added to one specific group of the course. The goal is to eliminate the need to assign the invitees to individual groups separately after sending the invitation. Sending one invitation per group.
Best regards
Georg

Alterative you have considered
As a teacher I also use the "Cohort sync" enrollment method. In contrast to the Invitation plugin this plugin allows for the assignment of cohort members to group members. But on enrollment by "Cohort sync" no e-mail can be sent with a note to the students to get them aware of that course. In case the enrolment method "Cohort sync" would provide a feature on noting students on enrolment, then "Cohort sync" could be an alternative to the Invitation plugin.
Of course it is not possible to (mis)use your invitation plugin just for the notification purpose after enrollment by "Cohort sync" - for good reasons the invitation plugin neglects students already enrolled.

This request is similar to the "Add Invitee to Specific Cohort in Enrolment Method #32" from UncleRemondo on Nov 24, 2022. It may be useful to have both options, to add Invitee(s) both to a specific group inside the course and to the cohort the course belongs to. I my case, I would like to assign users from existing system cohorts to specific course groups on invitation.
