Question about logging

Probably a dumb question, but is it safe to assume that anything I see on the app's map is downloaded locally? I logged into an SMP server I play and wanted to back up my base. I have my render distance set to 32 chunks, so a huge amount of map is visible. Covers my base and land around. Just wanted to check if I actually need to move around in the base or not. I know I need to open chests if I want them logged, but I don't care about that, just terrain.
