Hi,
I have error in a line that writes to an SD ''File' was not declared in this scope File dataFile = sd.open(filename, FILE_WRITE);'
ESP_Mail_Client.h library version 3.2.2
ESP32 core 2.09
I have 2 sections 2 parts of the program
#1 - the part that send the attachment file
#2 - the part that writes sensor data to SD using <SdFat.h>

Part #1 is working OK if Part #2 is OFF.
Part #2 is working OK if Part #1 is OFF.

When Part #1 and Part #2 is included in the program I have the following error :
'SDSTORE.h:67:3: error: 'File' was not declared in this scope
File dataFile = sd.open(filename, FILE_WRITE);'

The conflict is something to do with ESP_Mail_Client.h library but I spent one day trying to solve with no success.
chatGBT helped me a lot but in the end failed to give me the code without the problem.

I only imagine where the problem is but I can not solve it.

First, you should config your filesystem in ESP_Mail_FS.h.

When you don't use SDHelper.h, you should do the same thing that SDHelper.h does in your code.

I don't see where you include SDSTORE.h and I never found it in Github and Google searches.

You should use this SdFat library.

And you should replace the following lines in ESP_Mail_FS.h.

I recommend you use SDHelper.h instead that it was designed for reducing the complicated code and errors for necessary SD filesystem initialization and just calling SD_Card_Mounting() as in the examples.

Before start applying your notes I have to thank you for your fast response. That is crucial for me since I have to apply a working code in a sensor many miles from my location next week.
I have to point this out.

My first try for about 2 days was to use SDHelper.h. into Part #1 of my code
I have digging deep into your code and it was not clear whitc part will let me use sdFAT and not SD. That is because I am in a hurry and I am not a good programmer.

Then I tried to solve the problem with chatGBT and 'that' left out the statement '#include <extras/SDHelper.h>' so I commented it out.
chatGBT did not know your library and only suggesting. That 'thing' could not read the library from your GITHUB (still 'it' recommended your library in the first time).
Anyway spending some time with chatGBT I learn a lot of things about programming but unfortunately did not solve my problem so I decided to go for you as my last resource of getting this done. You see I tied hard before I come to you.
Now I will see your solution but still I like to use the 'SDHelper.h' approach since this looks better and you put a lot of effort in it to help us.. But I need directions how to implement my code with SDHelper.h. I am reading the source code but I am confused.

As far as SDCARD.h file you are trying to Google. It is my code.

I am using 2 HEADER files in my code (actually more headers)
one is EMAIL.h for your code to read attached file and sent to email address.
another one is SDCARD.h for writing my sensor data into the SD card
Then I can include n compilation time the needed code according to the flags being 'true'

Finally inside SDhelper.h there is a section referring to SPI/SD connection pins.
since I am using different pins I had to comment out the original and made my own to adapt my ESP board:

The file SDHelper.h is for demonstration that used in the examples.

You can copy your own version of SDHelper.h to your sketch folder and rename it to whatever you want e.g. FileHelper.h

Then include FileHelper.h below the ESP_Mail_Client.h in your sketch.

For ESP_Mail_FS.h you can create your own config file Custom_ESP_Mail_FS.h and place inside the same folder of ESP_Mail_FS.h.

When you update, only ESP_Mail_FS.h will be overwritten and Custom_ESP_Mail_FS.h still unchanged.

In Custom_ESP_Mail_FS.h, you can undefine the macro that already defined in ESP_Mail_FS.h before re-define it with new definition.

Note:

These two files i.e., ESP_Mail_FS.h and Custom_ESP_Mail_FS.h must be in the library installed folder.
You cannot move these files into your sketch location as library codes still look for these two files in its location.

I will follow these after building the first case (not using SDHelper.h file) as directed by you.
I have intermediate results creating FIRST CASE but we made grate progress progress.
In the end I have the problems . I think we are very close to finish it.

ERRORS
1 - Only the EMAIL.h is used to send attached file MAIL.txt already in SD
Email sent . Message body and subject OK. Only File can not be attached.
Note that I was able before the changes to attach the file

File is not actually created due to invalid path.

You should learn how to work with filesystem in Arduino.

You should know the structure of file name, extension and path included its limitation.

Please see the examples how to work with filesystem properly.

Your questions are quite off topic and not related to the library issue unless basic programming skill.

You should test different part of code separately to make sure it works before putting them all together.

I can't help you to debug your code. For compilation error you should check the C/C++ syntaxes and learn how to debug from the message what compiler showed.

The thing is before all these changes and using plain SdFAT libraries

#include <SdFat.h>
and not integrate them inside email libraries I was able to write my logged data to an SD.
