Contributing

I have worked really hard creating a powerful extension like this in my spare time, for free of course! I really want to create an extension that is powerful and modern. I really would like the community to help improve on it in any way. I would help in every step of the way too. There is a lot of work to be done to make this extension stand out from the rest.

There are many ways contributing:

1. Spreading the word about this extension.
2. Helping with translating it to many languages.
3. Fixing bugs if you see them.
4. Implement new features.

Inshallah, with the help of the community, we can really make this extension great!

New feature Ideas

• Implement custom calculations for prayers. Calculations are not that perfect in some parts of the world, we are using calculations that most Islamic scholars have been using implemented right into the extension. Currently, we are using default values that the calculation method has identified. It is really easy to tweak those values, so adding an option to allow that will satisfy many people from many sects.
• Introduce prayer time desktop notifications. Google Chrome has a concept of background apps, it would be nice if the extension would notify us of the Athan when prayer is about to arrive.

Translations

Translating into your own language is pretty simple! You basically do the following:

1. Copy the following file: https://github.com/mohamedmansour/prayer-times-extension/blob/master/_locales/en/messages.json
2. Replace all the “messages” to your own language.
3. You can follow the French example (which isn’t perfect) https://github.com/mohamedmansour/prayer-times-extension/blob/master/_locales/fr/messages.json
4. Send me the file and I will include it into the next release
