French cryptoinfluencer Michael Monteverde and a collaborator were visiting Michael-Elie Moussalem in December 2021. The three were working together on an unspecified crypto-related project. After a night of skying, the two visitors were staying overnight in a rental at Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs. During the night, three armed men broke in violently and assaulted Monteverde and his friend, demanding access to his crypto wallet. Despite severely injuring Monteverde, they only stole physical goods and 7,7 Etheriums. Moussalem has been criminally accused and in hiding since 2022. The state wants to force disgorgement of all of Moussalem's crypto tokens (value at 219k$) and a variety of jewels found at his residences. According to Monteverde, he stopped doing social media work for two years following the assault. [I have no idea why this is only now in the news. It's not a call for assistance locating Moussalem: the article has no photo of him]
