Anyway to restate theorem in external file?

Thanks for maintaining this nice package. I was wondering if there's a way to use thm-restate so that the restatement is in a separate file? In particular, is there a way to integrate with the xr package?

A quick brainstorm suggests this is doable. Though It may take me some time to implement and test.

The solution doesn't seem very ideal to me though (it lets go of thmtools)
