Being able to browse addon content via kodimote is really great, the only piece I found missing when compared to the display menu is an entry for my USB flash drive to browse it the same way. It seems like only local files are listed there.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this something missing in kodimote, or actually in kodi / the api itself?

(I'm using OpenELEC on a Raspberry Pi and kodimote 2.1.0 ).

Thanks alot for your work. 😄

can you browse the USB drive from kodi directly? If so, how?

Yes, you can.

I just discovered kodi-send --host=openelec -a "TakeScreenshot", so I thought let's use it. 😉

Start up OpenELEC / Kodi, go to Videos > Files:
kodibrowseusb1

This is my regular list:
kodibrowseusb2

Now I attached a USB drive. The list doesn't get reloaded by itself, so you either have to navigate to some other page and back again, or update the library (or attach the USB drive directly before you visit Videos > Files, but I wanted to show hot plugging):
kodibrowseusb3

There it is! It appears similar to e.g. an SMB network share that you have to set up manually. The USB drive entry is added automatically, though.
kodibrowseusb4

After clicking on it, I can browse the USB drive's filesystem like it would be a local filesystem and play media from it.
kodibrowseusb5

Unmounting the drive safely afterwards in the context menu…
kodibrowseusb6

If it shows up in the Files folder, you should be able to browse it via kodimote too, by going to "Videos -> Files".
The context menu probably won't work that nicely tho.

That's what I expected, but it's not the case, though.

Today I tried to do that again, with refreshing the library via the top level Video button context menu first, but the result was the same:

This is the same configuration as above, and there's only Plex Media Server, TV Shows and Videos, but no entry for the USB drive which is present when I view the Files folder on the TV screen.
