It would be great to try runnc without having to build it. These are the pending tasks needed to do so:

  • Not depend on the genisoimage command
  • Somehow having nabla-cont and runnc as a single binary
  • @lumjjb: add others if you remember please

Yes, I remember us having this discussion a while ago - and there are several other issues that are eluded to here.

Not depend on the genisoimage command

Something something linking ... lol. How is the FS work coming along for this though, if we expect there to be a change in the FS subsystem for nabla, we could hold off on this.

Yes - i agree on this. nabla-cont should definitely be merged into runnc. Let's make an issue for this. On putting nabla-run in, i still have some reservations, because of memory bloat of the long running process, but that's a separate issue.

Related to this though, since you mentioned about "Download" runnc as binary, is about packaging runnc as something that can be consumable without the build process. This has been on my mind for a while - and i've been thinking about it in terms of having a debian package. I think it's a big enough issue on it's own to have it's own thread, so I'm going to create an issue just for packaging and rename this issue for incorporating dependencies into runnc.

Somehow having nabla-cont and runnc as a single binary

If we get to build runnc (and all dependencies) as one single binary, then no need for packages. Just a wget runnc and all good. Wouldn't this be ideal?
