The following items are worth covering at a very broad level to give an overall picture of how nodes connect and communicate via the designed protocol:

  • Brief explanation of protocol design vs. implementation
  • General process of identifying and connecting with peers
  • Messages specification for how peers communicate
    • keepalives
    • live network block publishing and voting distribution
    • bootstrap network block requests
    • telemetry
  • Context of what nodes will know about the network given this setup (who is representative, what the weights are, who is online, what nodes report as their current state)
