Tic-Tac-Toe using Code Llama

I used the Code Llama 70 billion parameter model for generating this application.

Observations

  1. Code Llama was getting very confused if I gave it longer prompts with multiple instructions. I had to break up the prompts into smaller chunks to make it work.
  2. After initial listing of the game in the <App> component, it was never able to give me the full listing again. It always instructed me to change smaller pieces of the file. This is fine, but there was no way to validate if my version of the file matched its version.

  1. Build the project and run it using npm start. You should see a Tic-Tac-Toe game that allows you to play against the computer. The computer's algorithm is quite advanced, making it very difficult for users to win. Congratulations on creating your first React application!

Conclusion

  1. Code Llama does not work well with TypeScript. It produced code that is full of ESlint errors and is extremely hard to fix. That's why I let it produce JavaScript code and relaxed the ESLint configuration.
  2. Even with JavaScript, the code was very buggy and I simplified it heavily to make it work.
  3. The computer move was not smart at all! It picked a random square.
  4. No idea why it created the CSS in step 9. Board and Square were already styled using Tailwind CSS.
  5. Styling was not great.
  6. It used React class components instead of function components.
