Figured it makes more sense to put this here so anyone else using this can no it's on the radar.

To get this going i think the logic in all the tasks can be pulled out into separate POGOs and unit tested at that level.
As for the "component?" tests, not sure if they are actually integration tests, well testing the gradle Tasks, you can build a dummy project and get it built using org.gradle.testfixtures.ProjectBuilder There's a pretty good example on slide 39 here
