Review post type

Could there be a special type of post that's a review of some other content like a film, books, music or video game? Maybe an extra 5-star choice and a link to the media?

I was thinking about how there are so many service out there and you don't really own any of that data and maybe omg could be a nice host for it.

Super duper bonus points if it can POSSE back to other services like letterboxd or maybe some way of getting the data out so we could do that ourselves via the API.

Yes! The awesome thing about weblog.lol’s engine is that you can make this yourself! Or at least you should be able to... there may be a few rough edges to sand down at this point, but the goal between things like custom tags and custom templates is that you could make a template for reviews, and then define tags that you would use in those templates (e.g. {five-stars} could translate to ★★★★★ or something that uses Font Awesome icons or whatever you want), and then you’d be able to rapidly and easily produce these kinds of posts on your own whenever you’d like.

One thing that I think is missing currently is something like the Default post config item, but on a per-template basis. Not entirely sure how that would work yet... might need a way to specify the template you want to use for a new post before you create the post, and then it could come up with that default content for you (which in the case of a review template, might have headings for things like "Summary", "Takeaways", etc., as well as a place for a main image of the movie/book/show/etc.).

But you get the idea. What I want to do with weblog.lol is make it so that these kinds of custom/personalized patterns are easy to set up and use (and, ideally, easy to share with others... but there’s more work to be done on that front too).

What I think I can do is take this very suggestion and run with it as a kind of testing mechanism for the broader goals. When I get it to the point where you can say "I want to make a new book review post" and click one or two things to make that happen easily, then we’ll know we’ve got things in the right place. 👍

Could there be frontmatter at the top of a template that gets merged in when rendering pages that use it, then the template could have special tags and all be organised place. E.g. the {five-stars} could be in the “Review” template file frontmatter bit and it could have the “default entry” in there too? I’m toying with the idea of making an iOS app to do reviews 😬
