Tips on formatting ingredient quantities

Hey folks,

I'm curious how to format ingredient quantities so they scale with serving size and don't format oddly. I'm wondering if it might make sense to include examples somewhere, particularly in the recipe edit screens? More specifically:

1. Should I prefer fractional ingredients (1/2 cup) decimals (0.5 cup) or does it not matter?
2. Similarly, what about ingredients larger than a cup? (E.g. 1&1/2 cups, 1.5 cup (singular rather than plural), 1 1/2 cup, 3/2 cups, etc.)
3. What about ingredients like "salt and pepper to taste"? Obviously those can't automatically scale with serving size, but is it possible to enter a quantity in a way that won't give me warnings about being unable to calculate ingredient quantity? I guess it's not a huge deal if this can't be changed but it's a bit unclear to me whether an existing ingredient is formatted incorrectly or if it's one of my "x to taste" ingredients that's causing issues.
