As this is a living database, new (primary and secondary) data attributes can be added in the future. During the manuscript review process the following were suggested.

  1. heating system, as this is a major determinant of material intensities, for metal use (for ductwork) or concrete (for radiant hydronic systems) for example
  2. no of occupants in order to facilitate analysis of material intensity per person rather than per unit area
  3. Date and extent of any additions or renovations

@popcorndoublefeature suggested:

Is it planned to include the geolocation (in terms of x,y coorinates instead of country/region) in the database in future? This could help to preserve the spatial linkage to the urban structure / morphology / history.

Added some additional categories to building_type:

  • hospital/healthcare
  • office
  • industrial
  • retail
  • warehouse
  • education
  • other non-residential
  • research

Would make one category for warehouse & retail, education & research and hospital & healthcare.

I suggest to add a data column for the type of structure, f.ex. Reinforced Concrete, Brick-Concrete, Wooden structure, Brick-wood etc. I think this would reduce the variation in material intensity values (especially for SFHs) and make data analysis easier.
