Appearance of user text output

I'm running a lengthy simulation, and printing progress messages from inside procedures. NVC is surrounding my messages with quite a lot of information. For example,

enqueue speed: '0'

becomes

I'd like to be able to control the quantity of diagnostic information. Or, at least, to highlight/colour my messages so that they stand out,

I've not considered piping the simulator output through some sort of external formatting/filtering helper - as a Windows user this intimidates me more than it perhaps should...

Excellent, thankyou, "messages" is about the only word I didn't search for in online manual!

What do you think of highlighting/colouring the user text portion of full message output? I started thinking about this when reviewing a simulation output then ended with a Failure - and Failure was displayed in red. The coloured messages that NVC emits for compilation and elaboration errors are great. Could you consider adding a few more options to "messages=" e.g. "highlight", "cyan"...? Low priority, of course.

If you're using VHDL-2019 you can do that already with the new SetVhdlAssertFormat in std.env:

for level in note to failure loop
  SetVhdlAssertFormat(level, "{s}: {t}: " & ESC & "[1;32m{r}" & ESC & "[0m");
end loop;

The --messages option could be extended to accept this format string as well.

@JimLewis it's a bit clunky to have to set the format string separately for each severity level. I think we're missing a procedure SetVhdlAssertFormat(Format: string) that would set all levels in one go.
