The freebsd.sys package contains seemingly customizable parameters in the latest nixpkgs freebsd-staging branch.

It doesn't seem to work as pkgsCross.x86_64-freebsd.freebsd.sys.override { baseConfig = "FIRECRACKER"; } still builds GENERIC.
