"The metadata-name" of the font I mentioned refers to the font name displayed at the top when you right-click and open a font file in Windows. In the Noto series, this is a string that does not match the font file name.
The font names that appear in the font list in software like Microsoft Word are probably what I refer to as "the metadata-name."
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
For example, the metadata-name of NotoSansMono[wdth, wght].ttf is “Noto Sans Mono Thin,” right? (I checked on my Windows 11 PC)
NotoSansMonoThin.otf has the same metadata.
VS Code cannot realize that.
Describe the solution you'd like
I think NotoSansMono[wdth, wght].ttf should have “Noto Sans Mono variable width weight” metadata-name. The other variable fonts should be like this.
