Better error messages for diagnosing database installation/connection issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Don't install schema for Nurpawiki
2. Launch nurpawiki
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I'd expect to be able to easily diagnose what's wrong with the database 
connection or the database schema.

At the moment I get "Database not configured or database connection down!".  
The error handling can be improved to print the actual error, i.e., which 
one was it, database connection or schema missing..

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
