But since I have already a folder on my PC which contains a set of Open-CMSIS-Packs (downloaded by third party tools), I tried to import a local repository.
It didn't work, because the "Open-CMSIS-Pack init" has not been called over that folder.
The import fails and the extension doesn't give any message to the user.
I leave a suggestion for the extension:
ask the repo type for local repositories too
call "Open-CMSIS-Pack init" over that folder

Thank you for the feedback on our Open-CMSIS-Pack integration. This is excellent input on improving our "Import Local Repository". We will include this in an upcoming release. I will update this issue when the fix has been scheduled for release.
Following what is described in the wiki, it's possible importing a remote Open-CMSIS-Pack repository.
