Downloaded 1.7.1 from Github for Windows 7 - it's a single .exe
When I downloading something, for a fraction of a second at the bottom of the screen it says "Downloading CLI" or something to that effect.
But really it doesn't download anything (I guess my firewall, but that's a me problem). So I end up with a youtube-dl.exe file that has 0 bytes. I can fix this myself.
The bug is that none of this downloading or failing to download is in the log file at all. It should be. Similar to the other bug I reported, you should always log errors!

why are you on Windows 7? Anyways I tested this on a VM with Windows 7 and I didn't have any issues with firewall turned off. I don't recommend using Windows 7 and especially without a firewall since its obsolete but you didn't mention if you were using a third party firewall of windows built in. have you tried downloading it manually to try running it again?
