We made the JRE part of the product and therefore the repo contains a JRE. This cannot be published under EUPL. Do we need to adapt our IP Policy?

Regarding the posibility to distribute Java as part of an application:

[1] states that you can provide Java with your software provided you abide by the terms and conditions of Java binary code license.
The binary code license can be found at [2]. It containts the part "... you only distribute the Software subject to a license agreement that: [...] or (b) protects Oracle's interests consistent with the terms contained in this Agreement and that includes the notice set forth in Section H [...]".
One also has to follow restrictions given in the README of the distributed JRE (for Java 7 see [3])

I relayed the question to WP1: openETCS/governance#83

@JonasHelming @jastram What is the status of this issue ?
Do we still need the JRE in openETCS toolchain ?

@cecilebraun We technically don't need it, but it would make installation easier and less error-prone, especially on machines without admin rights and an outdated JRE.

The underlying product backlog item openETCS/product-backlog#14 has been closed. Considering how openETCS is used within the project, I'll close this one too, as it is a "nice to have", and we just don't have the resources to implement it.
