CI setup?

• i see there's a tests folder, but we don't have any instructions in the readme, nor CI about running those tests
• do we wanna publish the python package to pypi? is it useful by itself? (or maybe it packages the frontend as well, havent read that in detail yet)
• if publishing to pypi (could be automatic in CI), we should have the CI run the tests prior
