What

  • It's been proposed during a meeting today to report all users who decline analytics with a 000000000000 matomo user id (all those users are amalgamated).
  • That way, we can have comprehensive counts in Matomo, and not just a subset of scans/actions, while keeping anonymity for those who decline analytics

We should double check if F-Droid allows this

Hi, I would like to work on this. Can I, or is it needed to check first that F-Droid allows this?

You can @sgtSeme4ki, as we would at least apply it to our users in stores.

@M123-dev however F-Droid might at most ask you to specify we are tracking on the software page.

We should also check to make sure that this is not in contrast with the GDPR: https://gdpr-info.eu/recitals/no-26/.

Fair enough @VaiTon. It looks like we're good with texts like this:

5 The principles of data protection should therefore not apply to anonymous information, namely information which does not relate to an identified or identifiable natural person or to personal data rendered anonymous in such a manner that the data subject is not or no longer identifiable
6 This Regulation does not therefore concern the processing of such anonymous information, including for statistical or research purposes.

Just a supposition, I'm not a lawyer.
