Mobile phone: Nexus 5X Android 8.1.0

App sits in petitioning then eventually crashes/bails out.

Confirmed legacy ThreadGroup app works end to end against this network and joiner.

@gabekassel Thanks for reporting this issue. Could your help provide the information to reproduce the crash? Like:

  1. your border router, and joiner device commit ID
  2. network topology
  3. the QR code (or the content of the QR code) for the joiner device.
  4. If possible, logs on the border router or joiner device will be very helpful

  1. Note, the commit for BR is from a private repo. However, it was built just ahead of c35e1936. Joiner OPENTHREAD/20191113-01520-g9380ffd07; EFR32; Dec 9 2020 19:16:01

  2. During test, there was a single BR with joiner. However I've also tested with an additional BR and additional router in the network.

  3. v=1&&eui=14b457fffe6da684&&cc=J01NU5

  4. BR did not print any ot-daemon logs, however showed the entire meshcop process when using ThreadGroup app. I'm not familiar with collecting logs on a FTD-CLI, please advise. Or, if helpful, I can move to ot-daemon+RCP joiner on desktop.

@gabekassel sorry for delayed updates. I tried with the BR and joiner commits and finished the commissioning process successfully without crash (I am also testing with Nexus 5X Android 8.1.0).

Current commissioner app doesn't have failure tracking function, and the only way to get the commissioner app log is to run the logcat command. You may refer to this page for how to enable Android Debug on your device.
