1.e How to Form a UX Project Team
If a team is not actively meeting or does not exist for a project you’d like to be a part of, you are encouraged to form a team of Orcasound UXers for that project!
It’s challenging to keep an up-to-date list of who is on what team, as it fluctuates regularly as volunteers come and go. The best way to understand which teams are currently meeting is to review the Orcasound UX Google Calendar, contact the event owner, and/or and review the attached meeting notes.
If you’d like to form a UX Project Team, please do the following:
- Post a message in the #ux-general channel with a message asking for team members to join the team you are forming
a. Please include what the project name is, what it is about, and a scheduling poll link like Doodle or LettuceMeet so that a kickoff meeting can be scheduled
- Choose a kickoff meeting day and time when enough volunteers have filled out the scheduling poll and lead the meeting, making sure to provide a video link for Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
a. During the kickoff meeting decide:
i. How often and when you will have regular team meetings- create a calendar invite, collect all email addresses of team members, and include them in the calendar invite
ii. Who will do what on the team
iii. What resources you’ll need to be successful- create an issue with questions and needs regarding resource access, or access 2. UX Resources
- Does a project folder exist in the UX Team Google Drive folder?
a. If so, access or create a meeting notes doc to take notes for regular team stand ups
b. If not, feel free to create a new project folder in the UX Team Google Drive folder to place all project files
- Does a channel exist in Slack for your project (starts with ux-)?
a. If so, use that channel to collaborate with your team members
b. If not, contact UX leadership to discuss creating a new channel
- Lead weekly meetings, making sure that notes are taken, and you collaborate with cross-functional team members to move the project from UX to development
- Join the Orcasound GitHub account UX Team and make sure your team members join as well
a. As a member of the UX Team in our GitHub account, members will have read/write access to the Product Repo
- Write user stories in the appropriate project in the Projects tab in our GitHub account
a. Write and assign user stories to your UX project team members for research and design tasks
b. Write user stories detailing how design should be developed and work with a Product Manager to assign to Orcasound volunteer devs
