Unable to change audio input gain level of separate channels

The Audio API seems to support access to the audio channels in an AudioSource, something like:

Also, the device I am using supports separate gain controls in Audio -> Device settings, where I can apply different input gains to L/R channels.

First problem is that even when the Separate Gain Controls option is disabled, updating AudioSource.A0.InputGain to a different value automatically enables Separate Gain Controls and changes only L channel's input gain.

Also, the cgi request examples above to get access to the separate channels of the AudioSource don't work. When I list all properties of group=AudioSource.A0, I cannot see any Channel properties.

What could be the reason or solution to these issues?
