I'm curious if there is documentation on the shell commands available within Axis' flavor of Linux. It would be useful to know how to use commands like /usr/bin/test as well as to determine if a crontab style scheduler is present. The latest documentation on this seems to be from 2010, and man / info / --help doesn't seem to do much. |

Basically to run the PTZ test script to re-calibrate the PTZ focus every week. Theoretically very do-able. I understand from communication with Axis about a Q series model that over time and with a lot of vibration the cameras can skip gears. Since it is basically counting position of gears from the startup point or last PTZ test, this skipping can cause the camera to go out of focus since its internal information on gear position does not match physical reality. Since RMA isn't an option, and I have seen this more than once, it seems like a great strategy to get more life out of several older cameras in fun locations. |
