The Universe is no longer expanding

This kind of hope for Big Bang deniers constantly pops out in the media, but cosmologists don't change the direction of their research. Even 50 years ago similar comments would appear in newspapers without having any effect on the scientific community. This newspaper clip is a good example from the past! It makes one wonder why, in 2023, we're still stuck with that stupid expansion model...

The Universe is no longer expanding

A revolution is taking place in the human knowledge of astronomy, and astrophysicists are increasingly rejecting the expansionist theories of the universe, accepted for more than half a century.
By observing the radiation emitted by distant stars, astronomers had long noted a loss of energy (red shift) of the emitted light, which seemed to have only one explanation: the stars were moving away from our solar system, and the further away the galaxies were, the greater their receding speed.
It had to be admitted that the entire universe was expanding. We even have measured the expansion factor of the universe, and this "Hubble constant" has since been used to measure the distance of different constellations and stars.
This is where certain theories were born: that the universe began with a gigantic explosion of a mass of very dense matter (the "big bang"), or that the universe was "pulsating", whereas it would successively go through phases of expansion and contraction.
Now astronomers have just established that "quasar" type galaxies, which were believed to be located at the confines of the visible universe because of their high receding speeds (very strong redshift of their light), are in fact connected by clouds of hydrogen to galaxies very close to ours.
This link made of matter seems illogical. On the other hand, the very strong radiation of quasars, if we accept their great distance, also poses unresolved physical problems.
Astrophysicists have therefore come to propose another explanation for the loss of energy of light radiation from stars: this phenomenon would be due to collisions (interactions) between photons, these tiny particles of light to which until now no mass was attributed and therefore no interaction.
If this theory solves the enigma of quasars, it also makes the theory of the escape velocities of galaxies completely obsolete. Not only would the universe be more or less stable (apart from internal movements of course), but in addition, all the distances calculated for the stars and galaxies would now have to be revised).
We're starting from scratch... or almost.
The French magazine SAVOIR ET ACTION published in its latest issue an excellent article on this question, concluding that once again, the secrets of the infinitely large will be revealed to us by a better knowledge of the infinitely small: the photon.

This refers to Arp's work for the matter bridge, but I don't know which tired-light explanation they refer to. If someone (@Francois-Zinserling ? @ExpEarth ?) could find the 1973 issue of "Savoir et Action" I'd be interested to find out what they wrote!
