unable to add email address in GitHub > Access > Emails : Error adding <email>: email is already in use

I want to add additional email address for my repo and
When I try to add additional email address under Settings > Profile
Access > Email and when add complete email address it says

Error adding [email protected]: email is already in use

Note: I have 2 email address added already, this is 3rdone

It's possible that the email address you are trying to add is already connected to another GitHub account you own, which would explain the “email address is already in use” error.

I got the same problem. I tried to add an email but that email was connected to another account. Once I deleted it, then I was able to add it.

Also having this issue.
My current Github account is associated with my work.
I want to add my personal email as a backup email, but my personal email belongs to my personal GitHub.
Any way to solve this issue?

Yes the email address associated with another GitHub account but is there constraint ? we especially want that 2 GitHub account can be handled by logging on same.

Same issue. Why should I care that I have another, non-work github account associated with that email? If it won't allow me to use it as a backup, at least make it stop bugging me about setting a backup.
