At ICALEPCS 2021 there were some great discussions around the use of containers and Kubernetes in control systems. Several facilities are already working with or investigating these technologies.

To keep the conversation going, we are trialling GitHub discussions feature. Here you can:

Note this is intended for all control systems, not just EPICS, despite the repo it attached to.

Hello all, I have set this up instead of a slack channel since I found that slack requires a paid account for multiple organisation connections which might not be very inclusive.

We will use this in combination with the wiki here. Thanks those that ave already added their projects to the wiki.

To kick things off I have a few discussion points that I'm interested in getting opinions on. Let me know your thoughts.

• Do you maintain separate runtime and developer images?
• How do you manage the build of multiple dependent images?
• What are the approaches to supplying a OPI to the containerised controls system especially if it is in kubernetes?
