from my experience, I can tell that most people don't know too much about security and don't want to bother, because security makes a computer less comfortable and a bit more complicated.
The general assumption is, security is something related to their OS and already packaged with OS updates and security updates. Finally if somebody is interested in security then unluckily, they must be "paranoid".
Well, I don't install everything and try to delete anything superfluous. I understand, many Mint users are past MS Windows users (especially recently because of Ms new rules) who look for the same comfortable, usual apps they were used already on Windows.
sometimes I can just shake my head of some apps in display on MintInstall. Since the devs of LMDE can't control what is available and on display in MintInstall, I would like to have a setting in Mintinstall to exclude unwanted applications.
