Feature Request: Add GUI Screen Selection Menu for Win + P Shortcut
Current Behavior
In the Cinnamon Desktop Environment, when pressing Win + P to switch between display modes, the configuration changes immediately without any visual feedback. This makes it frustrating, especially when one of the displays is turned off or inactive—users are left guessing which mode is selected.
Proposed Solution
Add a GUI screen selection menu when pressing Win + P, similar to how it works in other desktop environments like KDE Plasma or GNOME or even on Windows. This menu could display the following options:
Mirror
Join Displays
External Only
Built-in Only
Here is an example screenshot from gnome for reference:
Why This Is Important
Improved User Experience: Users can quickly see and select their preferred display mode without configurations changing instantly.
Avoid Guesswork: A visual overlay eliminates the need for trial-and-error, especially when screens are off or disconnected.
Consistency: Other desktop environments provide similar visual indicators for display mode selection, which feels intuitive and polished.
This feature would significantly improve multi-screen management in Cinnamon, making it more user-friendly and aligned with the standards of other desktop environments.
