Heltec not updating

Hi all!

Any ideas why my Heltec V3 won't connect and update? I even tried erasing and flashing it anew and still nothing. The web flash window says 'connecting...' but it never does. Tried powering off and on the unit. Still won't connect.

I'm using a data cable. Confirmed as when I plug the Heltec into my Linux desktop it recognizes the Heltec using the lsusb command in terminal.

Chrome can see the Heltec as it shows up in the list of possible ports.

Tried a thing I saw online where you hold down both buttons and release the reset. Screen stays black, but still no connection.

Can't think of anything else to try. Any ideas???

Well, to answer my own question: need to run this command then reboot:

sudo usermod -a -G dialout USERNAME
