I dug into this a little more. Looks like WSL2 does not really support sound natively, which explains why the library file was not installed by default! Also not surprising...I am getting lots of debug messages in the terminal related to sound issues. Probably not the best development environment to use. |

In the 'Set-up-developer-environment' document on the wiki, it states that "You might need to install libasound2-dev on your system in order to build MuseScore on a Linux system".
For my system, (Ubuntu 20.04 installed into WSL2), I had to install libsndfile1-dev to successfully build as this supplies the sndfile.h file.
I was not sure where to post this info or whether this was a general issue specific to my system, but I thought I would report it in case it was useful.
(And for what it's worth: the wiki instructions for contributing are great! Good job with the documentation!)
